I downloaded iOS4 this morning. Unfortunately, I only have a puny 2G iPod Touch, so I can’t take advantage of the most exciting new feature, multi-tasking. I can’t even change the home screen background (for some reason). However, I’ve still managed to folder all my icons so they’re all neatly packed away on one screen. I’ve still got the nice reflective dock at the bottom. And I’ve still got iBooks. I wasn’t aware you had to download iBooks yourself, I assumed it was one of those things (like the voice recorder) which turned up in an update and couldn’t be deleted (what’s going on there? I’ve never had any call to use the Stocks app, but I’m still forced to have it on my device). I wasn’t really looking forward to it for books – I’ve got Stanza for that – but more for the PDF support. Yes, a rather circuitous way to get it, but still, it’s worth it in my opinion. I rather like iOS4, and everything seems to run a little faster.
